Ottawa Ice Spring 2020 Development Program
This Spring the OGHA will be hosting an inaugural Ottawa Ice Spring Development Program. Comprised of eight weekly 2-hour development sessions led by OGHA Technical Director Vince Ippolito on Sunday afternoons from 4-6pm at Jim Durrell and Sandy Hill Arenas. The program will run from April 19 to June 14 (no session on Sunday May 17).
Eligibility

Applications will be accepted for current OGHA players in the 2008-2012 birth years that have previously played at least one year of competitive hockey and intend to tryout for an Ottawa Ice team in 2020.

Participation will be limited to 24 skaters and 4 goalies. The OGHA Board will review applications and confirm participants that have been accepted into the program. Date/time of application and balance of age distribution may be used to finalize acceptance into the program.

Priority will be given to players not participating on a 2020 spring “AAA” team.

Program Objectives

The OGHA is committed to maximizing the potential of its players and competitive teams through long-term player development;

The program is intended to provide OGHA athletes an opportunity to further develop their skills and maintain on-ice conditioning in the off-season, in a fun and competitive environment with fellow Ottawa Ice players;

The weekly 2-hour sessions will permit intensive skill development and conditioning. Players will be challenged to apply skills into game situations through small area games (SAGs) and battle drills.

The sessions will be led by OGHA Technical Director Vince Ippolito, who will be joined by other Ottawa Ice coaches, Lady 67s players and current/former NCAA/U Sports womens hockey players.

Video analysis of skating and skills will be provided for all participants

Skaters: $250

Goalies: $200

All players will receive an Ottawa Ice Spring Development practice jersey and dry-fit t-shirt.
Application Procedure:
Upon confirmation of acceptance into the program, participants will be provided a deadline to pay registration fees.
