This season, the OGHA will again be offering free goalie clinics to its Novice, Atom, and Peewee goalies. The board is encouraging all those interested to attend bi-weekly training sessions run by Craig Azar (OGHA, Director of Goalie Development) and Goaler Army (www.gaahockey.com) . These sessions will be held at Brian Kilrea Arena (2185 Arch St) from 5:00 to 6:00 pm on the following Tuesdays:
October 8 and 22, 2019
November 5 and 19, 2019
December 3 and 17, 2019
January 7 and 21, 2020
February 4 and 18, 2020
March 3, 2020
Please contact Craig Azar at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions or concerns.
As well this season, the OGHA will be using a cost-matching model for all competitive teams and the Bantam & Midget house league teams. The hope with this model is that ALL OGHA goalies will receive the necessary position specific training that is missing from regular practices.
Each team is encouraged to provide a minimum of $600 of goalie specific training per goalie on their team. The OGHA will cover 50% of goalie development costs to a maximum of $300 per goalie. For example, if a team has two goalies and spends $1,200 on goalie training, they will receive a $600 rebate on their ice bill. If a team has two goalies and spends $1,500 on goalie training, they will receive a $600 rebate on their ice bill. If a team has one goalie and spends $200 they will receive a $100 rebate on their ice bill.
