Famous 5 Ottawa is pleased to honour four-time Olympic medalist – and a true nation builder - Hayley Wickenheiser, Captain of the Canadian Women’s Hockey Team, one of the best female hockey players in the world. And it is not just her lethal slapshot that has earned her such respect. Hayley is also an award winner, community leader, mentor, history-maker, and an accomplished businesswoman. The Famous 5 - Emily Murphy, Louise McKinney, Nellie McClung, Henrietta Muir Edwards, and Irene Parlby - would be proud to honour her for following in their spirit!

CBC Hockey Night in Canada's Play On! is back for 2010: June 26th and 27th in Ottawa.
Each event features recreational and competitive street hockey tournament divisions for boys, girls, men, and women of all ages and all skill levels.
Winners and finalists in Elite Male and Female divisions from each event will progress to the 5th Annual National Championships to compete for the Redwood Cup and recognition as Canada's Greatest Street Hockey Players during Hockey Day in Canada on CBC.

It is not an individual’s height, gender or ethnicity, but rather a person’s integrity, personal fitness and commitment to the community that are key factors in whether “You can be a firefighter,” according to the City’s 2010 Firefighter Recruitment Campaign.
This recruitment campaign “You Can Be a Firefighter” is designed to attract a diversity of applicants – including women and people from different ethnic groups. Applications will be accepted from May 3 to 31, 2010.
