Goalie Development

2016/17 Season

Due to scheduling challenges and lower than desired goalie participation during the 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 seasons, the OGHA will not be purchasing bulk Goaler U sessions for the 2016-2017 season.  This is NOT an indication of the quality of training provided by Goaler U but rather an indication of the challenges related to this model of goalie development.  Goaler U has done an excellent job developing our goalies and will continue to play a crucial role in making our goalies the best that they can be.

For this season, the OGHA will be using a cost-matching model for all competitive teams and the Bantam & Midget house league teams.  The hope with this model is that ALL OGHA goalies will receive the necessary position specific training that is missing from most regular practices.  Each team is expected to provide a minimum of $600 of goalie specific training per goalie on their team.  The OGHA will cover 50% of goalie development costs to a maximum of $300 per goalie.  For example, if a team has two goalies and spend $1,200 they will receive a $600 rebate on their ice bill.  If a team has two goalies and spends $1,500 on goalie training they will receive a $600 rebate on their ice bill.  If a team has one goalie and spends $200 they will revive a $100 rebate on their ice bill.
Novice, Atom, and Peewee house league goalies are encouraged to attend bi-weekly training sessions run by Joe Ross (OGHA Director of Goalie Development).  These sessions will be held at Richcraft Sensplex (813 Shefford Road) from 5:15 pm to 6:15 pm on the following Wednesdays:
October 5 & 19, November 9 & 23, December 7 & 21, 2016
January 4 & 18, February 8 & 22, 2017
